ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

Look At That Ass Limited Edition Print is a reproduction of the original 9"x12" figurative-abstract acrylic painting done on canvas paper by Canadian artist Melissa Bain. The image depicts a voluptuous, abstracted female form with an accentuated lower backside / ass and a generous view of a left side boob. The female subject is poised with an over-the-shoulder-glance; giving a conscious acknowledgement to the observer for their admiration of her physical attributes. Some would say the art work is a little cheeky. 

Painted in 2007, Melissa was inspired to paint the work by the growing trend of the BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift); which was fueled by the idealization and sexualization of many popular female celebrities such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian. The "Look At The Ass" painting reflects the power of social influence and cultural mind shift in a societal preference for a curvier body shape.  The BBL trend has continued over the decades and is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. In 2021, it was estimated nearly 400,000 people worldwide underwent the procedure. (Data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).
