PERSONA is a collection of my early Figurative-Expressionism acrylic-painted works (created between 2000 - 2007) that explores the idea that - "man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts." (Author James Allen). It's an ideal that has always intrigued my imagination and inspired my creativity.
My paintings portray literal “thinking” characters and subjects caught within their own stories -- snapshots of their personalities with the traits and thoughts that embody them; and in some cases merged with my own.
Persona, by one definition, means the aspect of someone’s character that is presented to or perceived by others. I implore you (the viewer) to observe and interpret each of the works presented to form your own perception of the characters, and to further take an introspective look at what your interpretations reveal about yourself.
The body of work features distorted expressions, vibrant colours, bold outlines and forms that reveal the moods and intriguing state of being in each work.
